Artist Profiles

Rujipart is a passionate landscape and wildlife photographer based in Niseko, Hokkaido. With a unique background that spans from Thailand to Sydney, Australia, his love for photography ignited at a young age when he discovered the power of storytelling through powerful images in National Geographic magazine.

At the age of 12, he received his first camera from his father—a Kodak film camera—setting him on a path of exploration and self-discovery through photography.

In 2019, drawn by a strong interest in Hokkaido's indigenous people, the Ainu, he made the island his home and has since immersed himself in the beauty of its landscapes. Inspired by the cold and snowy scenery of Hokkaido and the minimalist lifestyle of "Simple Living," his photography has evolved to reflect a harmonious blend of curves, lines, and symmetric shapes.

Through his lens, he seeks to express the profound connection between nature and humanity, capturing the ethereal beauty created by the land and its wildlife. With an inquisitive mind, he continues to explore and share the limitless inspiration he finds in Hokkaido's natural wonders.

He also finds inspiration in the artistry of Hokkaido's locals. Collaborating with a Hokkaido based printer and framer, he weaves their craftsmanship into his photography. Together, they bring to life the beauty of Hokkaido, celebrating the region's talent and spirit in each frame.

Yūgen (幽玄)

‘Inspired by the concept of Yūgen - a fundamental principle in traditional Japanese aesthetics, this photograph explores the 'Beauty of the Unseen.' It goes beyond appreciating the apparent beauty of an object to delve into its profound history. The intricate pattern of snow-mochi captured in this photograph is undeniably beautiful, but what truly captivates me is the intangible essence of its unseen journey. It is in embracing the unseen, the past, and the perseverance that the true essence of beauty reveals itself.’

Mono no aware (物の哀れ)

‘Aesthetics of Impermanence’ - It was in the early morning one day in May, I spotted this reflection of a sakura tree on a canal in Hakodate, also those beautiful leaves on the surface water that just started to fall. In Japan, sakura viewing or 'Hanami' is an essential activity where families and young people gather to picnic under the sakura trees. Cherry blossom is not more beautiful than other flowers, but the fact that it falls within a week, and just a gentle breeze can blow away those fragile beautiful flowers. Those are reasons to humbly celebrate the impermanence and cherish the excellent quality of Mono no aware.

Ebisu & Daikoku of Yoichi

The morning after heavy snow left this spiritual place the feeling of emptiness waiting to welcome you especially. These unique rock sculptures are named after two gods in Japanese Mythology. Ebisu is believed to be the god of the ocean and fishermen, while Daikoku is the god of agriculture and farming. This completely sums up the character of Yoichi town, which is famous for its whiskeys, wines, and seafood.

Mt. Yotei and Ezo Fox

‘It was my dream to photograph the Ezo red fox with the majestic of the north, Mt.Yotei, in the background. It took me over 3 years to earn this honour right in my neighbourhood of Kutchan. The moment when Ezo Fox sits still at the centre of a massive backdrop of Mt.Yotei and stares right at me is one of my most beautiful moments’
