Dōō (道央 – Central Hokkaido)
As the cultural and geographic heart of Hokkaido, Dōō offers a diverse range of photographic opportunities. From the cityscapes and snow-covered scenes of Sapporo, to the nostalgic canals of Otaru, and the dramatic seasonal transitions in Niseko and Furano, this region is ideal for capturing both natural beauty and human presence. With easy access and varied landscapes, Dōō serves as a perfect base for year-round photography exploration.
Dōtō (道東 – Eastern Hokkaido)
A paradise for wildlife and landscape photography, Dōtō is known for its raw, unfiltered nature. The Shiretoko Peninsula—UNESCO-listed for its ecological richness—offers encounters with bears, deer, and eagles, while the vast Kushiro Marshlands attract red-crowned cranes, especially in winter. Misty lakes, volcanic terrains, and drift ice in winter create surreal and ever-changing photographic scenes across this vast eastern frontier.
Dōhoku (道北 – Northern Hokkaido)
Dōhoku is a region of rugged coastlines, wide open spaces, and untouched nature—perfect for photographers seeking solitude and dramatic scenery. From the windswept shores of Wakkanai to the flower-filled alpine trails of Rishiri and Rebun Islands, the north offers rare moments of quiet beauty shaped by sea, sky, and light. Wildlife, seasonal transitions, and remote landscapes make Dōhoku ideal for those drawn to minimalism and atmosphere.
Dōnan (道南 – Southern Hokkaido)
Dōnan blends history, culture, and coastal scenery into a quieter, more refined visual palette. Centered around Hakodate, with its Meiji-era buildings and atmospheric bay views, the region offers unique moments where past and present meet. Rolling hills, fishing villages, and the soft light of the southern seas make Dōnan a poetic choice for photographers seeking depth, character, and a slower pace.
Shiretoko: Where Nature Speaks in Silence
This short film captures my journey through Shiretoko — a place where the land remains raw, untouched, and deeply alive.
From mist-covered coastlines to the quiet gaze of wildlife, every moment became a story waiting to be seen.
This is more than a travel log; it’s a glimpse into the kind of experiences I offer through my private photography workshops — where we don’t just take photos, but learn to listen, feel, and connect with nature’s rhythm.
